A totally unbiased test

Extract and translation from an article describing a test between "Blinder High Power" and "K40 Defuser Plus", done by the Norwegian magazine "Vi Menn" (640.000 readers) October 24 1998. The laser gun used was a LTI 20/20
Marksman, tested and checke3d according to instructions for the police.

"Blinder" or "K40"

Variation in speed affected clearly "Blinder" as long as the light circumstances were good. At 62 mph (100 km/t) we managed to read the speed at about 225 feet (75 m), as at 31 mph (50 km/t) we had readings at 450 to 600 feet (150-200 m). This is not satisfactory and gives a feeling of insecurity. Doing the measurements against the sun was different. The speed did not have such a big influence and we had readings down to 150 to 225 feet (50-75 m) regardless of speed. Despite that the "K40" was clearly the best product. It was the one that was the least influenced by speed and did its job good regardless of speed and light circumstances. At a speed of 62 mph (100 km/t) we were down to 60 feet (20 m) before we had a chance to get a reading and during an endless amount of readings during the day, we only had readings exceeding 150 feet (50 m) three times regardless of speed and light circumstances. This is very good and "K40" is this test's clear winner. It is also the logical choice as it also warns the driver with the in built detector. Because of that, notorious speeder, you have several hundred feet to break down before they have a chance to get a reading on you. "Blinder" is as original provided by two units to achieve better spread and intensity of the light it sends, as "K40" has one unit. Despite that, "K40" is better by far. We also made a test with two "K40"'s on a car, but we were never able to get a reading what so ever. A K40 Defuser Plus was also mounted on a motorbike and tested. The results were at least as good as the tests for the cars. Those of you who think that a CD in the wind shield makes the same job as a laserjammer has to rethink.. Tests gave positive results for the laser gun every time and the CD was more of a hinder for the sight than help against speeding tickets.
